Update 13.3.20

Current Guidance is :-

For recent onset of a new continuous cough and/or a high temperature

Stay at home and self isolate for 7 days from the onset of your symptoms, you do not need to contact 111 unless you cannot manage your symptoms at home

Should your symptoms worsen or are no better after 7 days then use the online NHS111 service, if you have no internet access then call 111

After the 7 days if your temperature has gone you can return to normal, the cough may linger but this is not an indication to self isolate further.

The 14 day isolation guidance only applies for  those with exposure to a confirmed case who are showing no symptoms .
