We offer a complete family planning service including advice on contraception and emergency contraception (sometimes called the morning after pill).
We provide advice on how patients may stop smoking. We also hold smoking cessation clinics which can be booked through reception. We actively encourage patients to have a programme for stopping smoking and adopting a lifestyle for reducing the risk of heart disease.
Our practice nurses are well-trained and experienced in helping you to be adequately protected for your holiday trip abroad. We offer a comprehensive range of vaccinations. A fee may be charged for some vaccines. Please ask at reception. See the practice information page ‘Travel Information’ for details of our online form
A range of minor operations such as removal of lumps and bumps are carried out at the surgery.
We hold a number of specialist nurses’ clinics covering a wide range of problems, for example: Asthma and Diabetics clinics.
Includes immunisations and development checks. You will be called for immunisation for the under 5’s automatically by the Health Authority. Please let us know if your child is ill or cannot attend
If you have a heart or lung problem, asthma, diabetes or are in frail health you are advised to have a flu injection every year. Clinics normally begin in September when the vaccine becomes available.
The antenatal clinic is led by the midwife and the doctor is available for consultation when necessary. Care is usually shared with the hospital.
We recommend that all women up to the age of 50 have a smear test every three years and women between 50 and 64 every five years. You may make an appointment for a smear with the practice nurse during normal working hours.
In certain circumstances during an examination of an intimate nature the doctor may ask a nurse to be present. This is to protect both the doctor and the patient. If a suitable chaperone is not available an alternative appointment will be offered. A patient may of course request a chaperone be present but this may mean that another appointment will be necessary.
Our nursing team offer regular clinics in COPD, Asthma, Diabetes, Hypertension, Heart Disease and Stroke prevention. These clinics are by appointment only with the nurse.
